As Romania faced one of its hottest summers on record, with temperatures reaching even 40°C, a lot of people, both from rural and urban areas, sought after installing or maintaining services for the ACs on HomeRun, the platform connecting the consumers with reviewed services providers. The highest demand was registered in June, and the average price paid for this type of service was 868 RON, 5.72% higher compared to 2024.
“Record-breaking temperatures led to an increased demand for AC maintenance and installation services. Customers sought fast, and reliable solutions, and on HomeRun ensures they were connected quickly with the right professionals, with whom they could chat directly in-app, before booking their services. The average reviews offered for AC-related services was of 4.9 stars out of 5 stars, showing that the services provided matched the needs and expectations of the consumers,” said Bașak Değim Tașpınar, co-CEO of the platform.
Heat Drives Historic Demand for AC Services
In June, as the early summer heat wave started creating thermal discomfort, requests for air conditioning-related services surged 170% compared to May. This volume was 111% higher than in July, and 473% above projected demand for August, marking June as the busiest month for AC-related services. The consumers sought after both installing and cleaning services, and unlike the installation services which registered a slight cost increase, the price for the cleaning services remained stable year on year, averaging 302 RON.
Demand Hotspots: The Consumers Installed ACs Even in the Mountain Area, and Outside the Big Cities
The constantly increasing temperatures have not caught everybody by surprise, and in the large cities with a history of hot summers there was a high demand for AC cleaning services, thus people had previously installed such equipment which needs to be cleaned at least once a year. This top is led by Bucharest, with over 54% of the queries, followed by Ilfov (over 12%), Cluj (7%), Timiș (over 6%), and Constanța (over 6%). However, the highest demand for installing new ACs was, as well, registered in Bucharest (33.6% of the queries), followed by Ilfov (around 14%), Timiș (over 10%), Cluj (over 10%).
Surprisingly, the heat wave became more difficult to endure even in the mountains, where the temperature is usually more comfortable thanks to the geography. Thus, the top of the queries registered for installing AC system is completed by Brașov, with a little over 8% of the overall number of queries registered. Another interesting aspect is that the demand for installing ACs was significant, as well, for the people who live outside the big cities, with over 30% demand for this service coming from the rural areas, or smaller cities.
„For instance, if we are to look at Bucharest and Ilfov, 73% of the installation services requests came from Bucharest, while the others were from Ilfov county. In Constanța, 57% of the queries were from the cities, while 43% came from the other localities around the country. In Cluj, 65% of the demands had to be delivered in the county seat, while the remaining 35% span the county. In Timiș, 61% of the queries were for Timișoara, while 39% came from other localities”, the company’s representatives concluded.
